Alnwick Rum a hit with US Airforce!

Local woman Margaret Thompson has just returned home from Missouri in the USA having delivered two bottles of Alnwick Rum to Captain Michael Taylor of the US Air Force.

According to Margaret, Michael rates Alnwick Rum as the best he has ever tasted, after he first sampled it when he was stationed at Lakenheath Royal Air Force base near Cambridge.

While Michael was stationed at Lakenheath, Margaret and her husband were invited to celebrate American Thanksgiving with the Taylor family by her good friend and Michael's mother-in-law Frankie Bainbridge, who used to live in Alnwick before moving to Brandon village in Suffolk. Margaret took a bottle of Alnwick Rum with her as a Thanksgiving gift and since then it has been Michael's favourite tipple. Since he currently is unable to buy Alnwick Rum in the USA, he relies on having it delivered to him by visiting English friends.

Michael is hoping to be able to buy Alnwick Rum in the US in the future, but until then he keeps it under lock and key, to be shared only with special friends!

Margaret presents Michael Taylor with his special gift along with a copy of the Northumberland Gazette,featuring the recent terrible floods in Northumberland.
